
Getting Low-E Glass Preheating Right (Even When It’s Huge)
If you’re working with Low-E glass on a wide scale, you know the struggle. You need the heat to be perfectly even across the whole sheet. But once your production line pushes past 3 meters, those standard, off-the-shelf infrared lamps just stop working. They can’t keep up. That’s why we build custom twin-tube infrared units. They’re designed specifically for these wide-format jobs where “close enough” isn’t good enough.
The struggle with long heaters
Here’s the thing: when you try to make a heating element longer than 3 meters, you run into a few annoying problems. Voltage drops. The tubes get fragile. And usually, the heat starts to dip in the middle, leaving you with a lukewarm center. We fix this by tweaking the internal filament geometry. We make sure the heat density stays rock-solid from end to end. Plus, we use a twin-tube setup. It basically doubles your heating surface without taking up any more room in your heater bank. The result? You hit your target temperatures way faster.
The nitty-gritty on materials
We use high-purity quartz glass because it lets short-wave radiation pass through without any fuss. For Low-E work, we adjust the tube coating to match the glass you’re actually using. It’s direct heat. It doesn’t waste time warming up the air around the glass—it just hits the target. A quick heads-up on the power side: we wire these for industrial grids, often using higher voltages to keep the current under control over those long runs. But be careful. Running 3-meter elements at high wattage creates a massive amount of heat soak. If you don’t get your cooling fans and ventilation sorted, you’re going to warp your support frames. And nobody wants to deal with that.
Making it fit
We designed these to be drop-in replacements. You shouldn’t have to rebuild your whole array just to upgrade. We also add reinforced end-caps. These stop the tubes from snapping when you’re installing them or when they expand and contract as they heat up. The best part? Since we build them to your exact oven width, those annoying “cold spots” at the joints of shorter lamps simply disappear. You get a flat, consistent temperature across the entire sheet of glass. Simple as that.
