You get uneven softening, the glass distorts, and you’re left with a piece of scrap.
Solving the Space Puzzle
Here’s how we handle it: we stop trying to force standard parts into tight spaces. Instead, we build infrared lamps to your exact measurements—down to the millimeter. If you’ve got a cramped rail or a tricky curve that the heat needs to follow, we shape the lamp to match. The real magic happens when you can actually get the heat source closer to the material. By closing that gap, you get a much stronger hit of radiant heat. It’s faster. It’s more concentrated. And it puts the energy exactly where the bend is happening.
The Trade-offs (The “Real Talk” Part)
Now, changing the length of a lamp isn’t as simple as just cutting it. It changes how the electricity behaves. To make sure you still get the wattage you need, we tweak the filament density and the winding. We do the heavy lifting on the math so the lamp actually performs the way you expect it to. One thing to keep in mind: if you’re packing a ton of heat into a tiny footprint, your lamp holders are going to feel it. If we shorten a high-wattage tube to fit a tight spot, just make sure your housing can handle those higher surface temperatures. You don’t want your supports burning out halfway through a run.
