The deal with quartz tubes
Imagine a scorching hot glass tube. Now imagine a splash of cold water hitting it. Standard glass just gives up—it cracks. That’s where high-purity quartz comes in. When we say “explosion-proof,” we don’t mean it’s built for a war zone. It just means the tube can handle those wild temperature swings without shattering. If a tube bursts, your live heating filaments are suddenly exposed to a wet room. Not great. Keeping the water out
You’ll see “IP65” on the spec sheet. In plain English? It means the housing is tight enough to keep out dust and handle water jets without leaking. We spend a lot of time sealing the spots where the wires hit the lamp socket. If you skip this, steam creeps in. It causes oxidation on the terminals, which makes the electricity struggle to flow. That creates heat in the wrong places, and eventually, the whole thing just burns out.
A few things to watch for
These lamps are great because they hit you with instant heat—which feels amazing when you’re stepping out of a shower into a cold room. But they gethot. Really hot. If you mount them too close to cheap plastic panels or low-grade sealants, those materials are going to warp or melt. It’s a messy mistake that’s easy to avoid. And a quick tip on the wiring: make sure it’s rated for the specific wattage you’re using. You don’t want voltage drops or electrical arcing happening in the humid air. When the wiring is right and the quartz is solid, you can just relax and enjoy the warmth without worrying about the power grid.
